This Privacy Policy explains how Gut Detective ("Application", "Service") operated by Novatec Ceylon Pvt Ltd ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the app. Gut Detective is designed as a local-first food and symptom diary that helps you record meals, symptoms, daily context, and diary-based summaries with a strong privacy baseline.
Gut Detective allows you to create and store diary information such as:
Your core diary data is stored locally on your device. The app does not require an account and does not automatically upload your diary entries to Novatec Ceylon servers.
If you use Premium photo ingredient suggestions, the selected meal photo is uploaded to Gut Detective's Firebase backend so ingredient suggestions can be requested from an AI provider. This happens only when you choose to analyze a meal photo.
The backend temporarily writes the image to Firebase Storage, sends a short-lived image URL to the AI provider for analysis, and then attempts to delete the temporary image after analysis. The returned suggestions are shown for your review before you save them to your diary.
AI ingredient suggestions may be incomplete or inaccurate. You should review, edit, add, or remove suggested ingredients before saving a meal.
Gut Detective uses RevenueCat to manage App Store subscriptions, restore purchases, and confirm Premium access. RevenueCat may receive purchase-related identifiers, subscription status, product identifiers, and device or app identifiers needed to provide subscription functionality.
Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Gut Detective lets you create appointment reports and journal backup files. These actions happen only when you choose to create or share them.
Once you choose to save or share an exported file, that file is handled by the destination you selected and may then be subject to that provider's privacy practices.
Gut Detective does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell your personal information.
At this time, the app is intended to operate without collecting diary data for advertising, marketing, or third-party analytics purposes. If this changes in a future release, this Privacy Policy will be updated before the new data practice takes effect.
The app may rely on standard Apple platform services to provide operating system features such as camera access, photo library access, file sharing, and Files integration. When you choose to save a backup to a third-party storage provider, that provider's own privacy policy and terms may apply to the stored file.
Premium photo ingredient suggestions may involve Firebase, Firebase Storage, RevenueCat, and an AI provider. These services are used to provide the requested app functionality and subscription access.
Because your core diary is stored locally on your device, you control its retention. You can delete entries within the app, export your diary, or remove the app and its local data from your device.
Temporary meal photos used for photo analysis are intended to be deleted by the backend after analysis. If a backend failure interrupts cleanup, temporary storage may remain for operational handling and will not be used to create a permanent diary record by us.
If you contact us about data deletion, we can help clarify what data is stored by the app and what steps are available, but we do not maintain a central cloud account database of your diary entries for this version of the app.

Possible associations shown by the app are based on your diary entries and should not be treated as proof that a food caused a symptom.
